I came across this video — and if you search for it, the unedited version is everywhere — and I could not even watch the whole thing. First, I found myself praying that she was still alive. Then I could not stop thinking about her parents, and the parents of the teens assaulting her or standing by without intervening.

I later found an article about the incident and was horrified by how casually some of the kids spoke about it, as if it had simply gotten “a bit excessive.” No. I refuse to let this ever feel normal.
